Bitcoin ETF outflows hit $643M after the record Binance hack

31 Oct 2026

TL;DR

US spot Bitcoin ETFs lost $643.33 million on October 30, the day after the roughly $6.3 billion Binance hack, ending a four-day inflow streak. BlackRock's IBIT led with about $234 million, and Ethereum funds lost another $156 million.

Bitcoin ETF outflows jumped to $643.33 million on October 30, according to SoSoValue data cited by BeInCrypto. The withdrawals came one day after attackers drained about $6.3 billion from Binance, and they ended a four-day run of inflows into US spot Bitcoin funds.

Which funds lost the most

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), the largest fund in the group, accounted for about $234 million of the outflow. Fidelity and Ark Invest products posted the next-largest exits. The funds together hold $98.14 billion in assets, so the one-day exit equals roughly 0.7% of the total.

Ethereum ETFs did not escape either. They lost another $156 million on the same day, their fifth straight session of outflows.

The Binance hack in context

On October 29 an attacker moved about $6.36 billion out of Binance exchange wallets across 10 blockchains, most of it within about 20 minutes, according to analytics firm TRM. TRM linked the theft to TraderTraitor, a North Korean hacking unit, and said token issuers and network operators have frozen about $2.7 billion of the stolen assets. Binance suspended deposits and withdrawals and says user funds are safe. We track the case in our Binance hack stolen bitcoin report.

Is one day of selling a warning sign?

There is a recent comparison. On October 22, investors pulled $635 million in a single session, and inflows returned for four straight days from October 26. The previous record hack tells a different story: a week after the $1.5 billion Bybit theft in February 2025, ETFs saw a then-record $1 billion single-day outflow and close to $3 billion for the week, as ETF.com reported at the time.

About $11 billion in Bitcoin options also expired on October 30. BeInCrypto put the Bitcoin price at $77,189, down 1.7% in 24 hours, and monthly return data shared by trader Crypto Rover shows BTC down 7.3% for October so far. If the month closes red, it would be only the second time Bitcoin has posted back-to-back losing Octobers, after 2011 and 2012.

What it means for traders

The next few ETF sessions matter more than the single print. Flows that look like October 22, a one-day exit followed by inflows, would suggest the hack is being treated as an exchange-specific event. Flows that look like February 2025 would point to a broader risk-off move into the weekly and monthly close. Weekend liquidity is thinner, so moves can be sharper until US funds trade again on Monday.
