Bitcoin and Ethereum pullback warning: Ansem turns bearish, eyes $82,000 and $2,400

27 Oct 2026

TL;DR

Well-known crypto trader Ansem says Bitcoin and Ethereum have broken their mid-timeframe trend and could accelerate lower below $82,000 and $2,400. He ties the call to a blow-off top in AI momentum stocks, while staying constructive on Bitcoin over the longer term.

Crypto trader Ansem (@blknoiz06) has turned bearish on Bitcoin and Ethereum. In posts on X on Oct. 26, he said both assets have broken their mid-timeframe trend and could “accelerate to downside” below $82,000 for BTC and $2,400 for ETH, as reported by BeInCrypto. He also said he is bearish on large-cap stocks.

Why Ansem flipped bearish

The call leans mostly on the stock market rather than on crypto charts. According to Ansem, AI momentum stocks printed a parabolic blow-off top, the kind of steep final surge that often ends a rally, followed by a lower high and a broken trend. He adds that even the largest tech names are stalling at all-time highs, and that a recent breakout in the Invesco QQQ, the fund that tracks the Nasdaq 100, has turned into a failed move above prior highs.

He also questions where the next wave of AI revenue will come from, arguing that heavy spending on model training has not yet lifted profits in a meaningful way. He points to Meta’s selloff after its earnings as an example.

The timing adds headline risk. The Federal Reserve announces its rate decision on Oct. 28, in a week packed with major earnings reports. We covered what is on the calendar in our crypto week ahead preview and in our look at falling stablecoin supply before the Fed and BoJ.

Worst sentiment in nine years, but not a long-term bear

Ansem says being bullish onchain has become “complete counter-consensus” and that he has never seen sentiment this bad in roughly nine years in crypto. Even so, BeInCrypto notes he is not bearish on Bitcoin over the longer term: he expects a pullback first and then a move higher, with heavy volatility in both directions through the fourth quarter.

He saved his sharpest criticism for Crypto Twitter itself, saying too many traders complain about lower price ceilings on tokens while too few build protocols that could change that. He still sees room for some onchain projects to do well. BeInCrypto adds that analyst Benjamin Cowen has also laid out a bearish Q4 roadmap for Bitcoin.
