Bitcoin ETFs: big swings, flat total

They were almost cancelled by the two biggest outflow days, 22 October (minus $635.6 million) and 7 October (minus $484.9 million). On Monday, 26 October, IBIT reported plus $110.3 million and every other fund reported zero. Since the first US spot Bitcoin ETFs launched in January 2024, cumulative net inflows stand at about $57.36 billion on Farside’s table.
Ether ETFs: a steady drip
Ether ETF outflows were smaller per day but very consistent. The worst day was 6 October (minus $201.9 million) and the biggest inflow was only $24.8 million on 13 October. Cumulative net inflows into US spot Ether ETFs fell from about $13.92 billion at the end of September to about $12.66 billion, a drop of roughly 9% in under four weeks. Ether also underperformed bitcoin on price over the same period.
What it means for spot buyers
ETF flows show what US institutional and advisory money is doing, not where prices must go next. Flows often follow price rather than lead it. If you buy coins directly rather than through an ETF, your own costs matter more: trading fees, spreads and how you fund your account. Our bitcoin spread test across 9 exchanges shows that the fee tier usually decides the cost of a normal-sized buy.
