Pendle launched PendleLoop, extending its one-click looping tool to yield assets and leveraged longs on seven Coinbase tokenized stocks on Base, financed by borrowing USDC on Aave V4. Listed stock leverage ranges from 2.6x to 4.2x, and fees on non-PT loops are waived until 31 December.
Leveraged stock trading is arriving in DeFi one click at a time. Yield trading protocol Pendle launched PendleLoop on 22 October, extending its looping tool beyond principal tokens to other yield assets and leveraged price positions, including tokenized US stocks on Base.
How the loop works
“Lend, borrow, buy more, repeat,” Pendle said. For a long, users deposit collateral, pick leverage and borrow stablecoins to buy more of the asset, ending up with a larger debt financed position. The stock routes use USDC borrowed on Aave V4, where the stock tokens are collateral only and cannot themselves be borrowed.
Seven Coinbase stock tokens are supported: AAPLc, AMZNc, GOOGLc, METAc, MSFTc, NVDAc and TSLAc. Maximum listed leverage ranges from 2.6x for METAc to 4.2x for MSFTc, with NVDAc at 3x. The interface also lists WETH, wstETH and WBTC longs on Ethereum and a WETH long on Base, advertising up to 6x for price trades.
According to Aave Labs, the tokens represent certificates issued by Coinbase Onchain SPV Ltd., with underlying shares held at Alpaca Securities, and are available only to eligible non-US persons. Pendle is waiving fees on non-PT loops through 31 December, though borrowing costs still apply.
The risks
Looping magnifies both gains and losses. A 4x long can be liquidated by a drop of well under 25%, and stock tokens face weekend and overnight gaps when US markets are closed, as well as variable borrowing rates.
What it means for traders
- Leverage is leverage: onchain or not, liquidation risk dominates. Use lower multiples.
- Exchange stock perps compete: centralized venues offer stock perpetuals with deep books. Compare them in our exchange comparison; BingX ranks first and OKX second.
