Whale Alert flagged three Ripple-linked XRP transfers worth about $389 million within minutes on Friday. Ripple has not explained them, and the timing, right after it helped freeze funds from the Binance hack, has traders asking whether they are routine treasury moves or something more.

Ripple is in focus after blockchain tracker Whale Alert reported three large XRP transfers involving a combined 310 million XRP on Friday, October 30, according to U.Today. The transactions were made within a few minutes of each other while XRP traded around $1.25, putting their total value at roughly $389 million.
The three XRP transfers
- 120,000,000 XRP (about $150.57 million) moved from a Ripple-linked address to an unknown wallet.
- 90,000,001 XRP (about $112.96 million) moved from an unknown wallet to a Ripple-linked address.
- 99,999,999 XRP (about $125.56 million) moved from an unknown wallet to a Ripple-linked address.
Based on those figures, 190 million XRP flowed into Ripple-linked addresses and 120 million flowed out. Ripple has not commented on the purpose of the transfers. U.Today notes they may be linked to treasury management, internal wallet reshuffling or other operational needs and are not necessarily sales.
Why the timing raised eyebrows
The transfers came hours after Ripple confirmed it was helping respond to the Binance hack on October 29. Ripple’s SVP of stablecoins, Jack McDonald, said on X that the company was closely monitoring reports of a potential exploit involving Binance and the attackers’ RLUSD holdings and was actively freezing affected funds. Binance co-CEO Yi He thanked the Ripple team for freezing $200 million in assets, U.Today reported.
According to an Arkham Intelligence report cited by U.Today, the Binance hack had an estimated impact of $6.3 billion, including about $300 million in XRP and $6 billion across 141 transfers on nine chains. Some commentators are now asking whether Friday’s XRP moves are connected to that response, while others speculated about selling. Neither theory has been confirmed.
The moves also follow Ripple’s Swell event in New York (October 27 to 29), where CEO Brad Garlinghouse said XRP remains the company’s top priority. “We only want to do things that are good for XRP,” he said.
What it means for traders
- Large Ripple-linked transfers often trigger short-term speculation, but the net flow here was into Ripple addresses, which does not by itself point to selling.
- With the Binance incident still unfolding, XRP volatility may stay elevated. Wait for an official explanation before trading on rumours.
