Ripple and Robinhood partnership brings RLUSD stablecoin to settlement, treasury and trading

27 Oct 2026

TL;DR

Ripple and Robinhood have announced a strategic partnership that puts Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin at the center of institutional settlement, treasury operations and trading at Robinhood and Bitstamp. RLUSD has about $2.4 billion in circulation, still far behind USDT and USDC.

Ripple and Robinhood announced on Tuesday, October 27 a strategic partnership to expand the use of RLUSD, Ripple’s US dollar stablecoin, across Robinhood’s business. According to CNBC reporting cited by DiarioBitcoin, the deal covers institutional settlement, Robinhood’s own treasury operations and access to trading and financing through Ripple Prime and Bitstamp, the global exchange Robinhood finished acquiring in 2025. Watcher.Guru also flagged the announcement on its Telegram channel.

What the deal includes

The partnership bundles three functions that usually sit in separate silos:

Johann Kerbrat, senior vice president and general manager of Crypto and International at Robinhood, said practical utility is what drives stablecoin adoption, and described the setup as an example of an integrated global financial system. Ripple president Monica Long said stablecoins have evolved from crypto trading tools into financial infrastructure used in corporate payments and capital markets, and that the partnership aims to let money move around the clock and free up liquidity.

RLUSD still a small player

RLUSD launched in December 2024 and has roughly $2.4 billion in circulation, according to Ripple’s transparency page as cited by the report. That is a fraction of the market led by Tether’s USDT and Circle’s USDC, in a total stablecoin market now above $300 billion. RLUSD is already available to traders on Bitstamp and on Robinhood Chain, the company’s own blockchain for tokenized stocks and other assets.

The deal also lands days after the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) gave final approval to Ripple National Trust Bank, which will manage RLUSD reserves. Competition is heating up: Circle is building its own Circle Payments Network, which competes directly with Ripple’s payments business. Robinhood was also scheduled to report third-quarter results after the US market close on Tuesday.

What it means for traders

For retail users, the most visible change is RLUSD showing up as a tradable asset on Robinhood, which could add liquidity and trading pairs for the stablecoin. For the wider market, it is another sign that large brokers want stablecoins for 24/7 dollar movement outside banking hours. The partnership does not change XRP’s supply, so any XRP price reaction would be sentiment-driven rather than fundamental.
