Strive, the Bitcoin treasury company led by CEO Matt Cole, has made its largest single Bitcoin purchase. According to an SEC filing summarised by Comparic and reported by The Block, Strive bought 6,182 BTC between October 17 and 23, 2026 for about $511.4 million, at an average price of $82,732 per bitcoin including fees.
That takes its holdings from 36,818 BTC to exactly 43,000 BTC, an increase of nearly 16.8% in a week. The Block reports the buy brings Strive close to the second-largest corporate bitcoin treasury.
Strive bitcoin purchase: the numbers
“Strive acquired 6,182 BTC for $511.4M at an average cost of $82,732 per bitcoin, bringing total holdings to 43,000,” Cole posted on X on October 26. He added that cash and marketable securities rose by $187.7 million to $554.6 million.
The purchase follows a run of smaller buys this month, including 3,311 BTC announced on October 13 and later purchases of 2,822 BTC and 1,223 BTC.
How Strive funds its buying
Strive also established a $1 billion at-the-market (ATM) program for its SATS preferred shares, which lets it sell stock gradually into the market. The program follows the initial SATS offering, in which Strive sold 7 million shares at $90 each for $630 million gross. The shares carry a 15% annual dividend on a $100 face value, equal to a 16.67% yield at the $90 issue price, and Strive set aside a $157.5 million dividend reserve covering 18 months.
Instead of bonds or loans, Strive relies mainly on common and preferred equity. That avoids traditional debt, but dividends are a fixed cost, and a long Bitcoin downturn would make that cost harder to justify. Strive expanded its treasury earlier in 2026 by acquiring Semler Scientific.
What it means for traders
- Corporate demand keeps coming: Strive paid above the current price of roughly $80,000, and a new $1 billion ATM gives it room for more buys.
- Watch the funding cost: high-yield preferred stock makes these treasuries sensitive to how long Bitcoin stays below their average cost.
