Whale Alert flagged a 7,499 BTC transfer, worth about $581 million, from the wallet it labels Binance SAFU to an unknown address. The move comes hours after Binance said it would partially deploy SAFU over 24 hours to cover the hack shortfall.

A Binance SAFU wallet transfer of 7,499 BTC hit the chain on Saturday afternoon. Whale Alert reported the move at 14:57 UTC, valuing it at about $581 million and labelling the sender as Binance’s Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU) and the receiver as an unknown wallet. The transaction details are public on Whale Alert’s explorer.
Why SAFU is moving now
The timing matches Binance’s own plan. In its Recovery Update #3, the exchange said a partial deployment of SAFU was expected over the next 24 hours as one of three sources, alongside excess Futures insurance funds and its corporate treasury, used to replenish assets stolen in this week’s hack. Binance says it has now replenished 90% of the shortfall and will refill SAFU to about $1 billion afterwards.
Binance has not publicly confirmed that this specific transfer is part of that deployment, so treat the link as likely but UNCONFIRMED. Our full breakdown of the update is here.
Hacker wallets are still active
Funds are moving on the other side too. Seven minutes earlier, Whale Alert flagged 120 million TRX, about $38.3 million, of stolen funds moving from the wallet it tags as “Binance Hack 2026” to an unknown address. That fits the pattern Chainalysis described of exploiters routing value through Tron; see our report on Tron DeFi and stablecoin freezes.
What it means for traders
- Internal shuffle, not a sell signal. A SAFU payout to cover user balances is a reshuffle of BTC Binance already owns. Nothing here shows coins going to market.
- Sunday withdrawals are the real test. Binance says it is on track to reopen withdrawals on November 1. Large internal BTC moves ahead of that are consistent with getting balances ready.
- Watch the hacker side. Further moves from tagged hack wallets, especially toward bridges or mixers, are the flows that could add pressure.
