Kraken Prop adds gold, oil and four more commodities, halves non-crypto commission to 2bps

29 Oct 2026

TL;DR

Kraken Prop, the exchange's simulated prop trading program, launched gold, silver, WTI and Brent oil, copper and natural gas on October 29. On all plans except Lite, commission on every non-crypto market falls from 4bps to 2bps per side, including on existing accounts.

Kraken has added six commodity markets to Kraken Prop, its prop trading evaluation program, and cut the commission on all of its non-crypto markets in half. The changes went live on October 29, according to an announcement on the Kraken blog.

Six commodity markets, led by gold

Gold leads the launch, joined by silver, WTI oil, Brent oil, copper and natural gas. Kraken says each market is priced off an index oracle and trades 24/7, so positions can stay open through the weekend. The markets are available in every region where Kraken Prop is offered, except the UAE.

On all plans other than Lite, leverage and notional caps differ by market:

Lite plan users get all six commodities at up to 20x leverage with their existing commission rate. Kraken says the limits are under review and may change.

Commission cut from 4bps to 2bps

Outside the Lite plan, commission on every non-crypto market drops from 4 basis points to 2 basis points per side, or 0.02% of notional. Kraken’s own example: on a $100,000 position, a round trip now costs $40 instead of $80. The cut also covers the S&P 500 and XYZ100 index markets and applies to evaluations and funded accounts users already hold. Crypto market fees are unchanged.

How Kraken Prop works

Kraken stresses that participants provide trade signals only and do not hold real positions; limits are simulated, while payouts are real and based on simulated performance. The rules stay the same: funded accounts up to $200,000, no consistency rules, no time limits, up to 90% profit share and payouts typically within 24 hours. Kraken describes it as an unregulated service operated by Payward Oceanic Ltd., and evaluation fees are non-refundable once trading begins.

What it means for traders

Crypto-native platforms keep pushing into traditional assets, and commodities that trade around the clock are a clear draw for traders who already follow gold and oil. Still, a prop evaluation is a paid test, most applicants fail their first attempt by Kraken’s own account, and the leverage on offer can wipe out an evaluation quickly.
