The XRP burn rate rose 147% at the end of October, with 1,644 XRP burned as fees on October 30, according to XRPScan data cited by U.Today. The XRP price did not follow: the token was down 15.86% for the month with hours to go, on track for its first red month since July.

The XRP burn rate climbed sharply into the end of October. According to U.Today, citing XRPScan data, the amount of XRP burned as transaction fees rose 147%, with 1,644 XRP burned on October 30 alone. The price story was very different, and that gap is what traders should focus on.
How the XRP burn works
Every transaction on the XRP Ledger pays a small fee in XRP, and that fee is destroyed rather than paid to validators. There is no scheduled burn event: the burn simply rises and falls with network activity. Per the same report, a total of 14,423,678 XRP has been burned so far, which is about 0.014% of the total supply. In other words, a 147% jump in daily burns is a sign of more on-chain activity, but in absolute terms 1,644 XRP a day is far too small to move supply in any meaningful way.
Uptober did not deliver for XRP
October has a reputation in crypto as “Uptober”, but this year it broke the pattern. With only hours of the month left, XRP was down 15.86% for October, on track for its first losing month since July, after gains of 30.11% in August and 7.91% in September. Market sentiment was hit hard this week by the Binance hack, in which U.Today puts client losses at $6.3 billion. Binance has since said it has covered about 90% of the stolen value and plans to restore withdrawals on Sunday, as we reported in our Binance hack update.
On OKX, XRP traded around $1.25 on Saturday evening, roughly flat over 24 hours.
Q3 network numbers were stronger than the price
The official XRP account shared Q3 2026 highlights cited in the report: stablecoins on the XRP Ledger grew 25.2% to $1.03 billion, global net inflows into XRP ETPs rose 39.6% to $355.3 million, payment volume rose 4.3% to 42.82 billion XRP, native DEX volume rose 20.2% to $614.8 million, and distributed tokenized RWA value rose 29.2% to $498.7 million.
What it means for traders
A rising burn rate shows more ledger usage, but it is not a supply shock and has not stopped the monthly drawdown. For now XRP is trading with the wider market, which is still reacting to the Binance incident. Watch whether Binance withdrawals reopen on schedule and whether ETP inflows hold up in November.
