Ripple’s chief executive has pushed back on one of the louder narratives around the company this year. Speaking at the opening of the Swell 2026 conference, Brad Garlinghouse rejected claims that Ripple is winding down its support for XRP in favor of its dollar stablecoin, Ripple USD (RLUSD), as reported by U.Today.
“We will never give up on XRP”
Garlinghouse acknowledged that RLUSD has grown quickly on the XRP Ledger over the past year and that some observers read this as Ripple leaning away from XRP. “We will never give up on XRP,” he said, adding that Ripple views the token and the stablecoin as “very complementary” and that RLUSD is one contributor to the momentum around XRP. He also repeated that Ripple “will never do something we think is bad for the XRP ecosystem.”
Revenue, a bank charter and new integrations
According to the report, Ripple has reached an annual run rate of $900 million in product revenue and has processed $16 trillion in transactions. The company’s stated goal is to bring more of its off-chain treasury and brokerage volume onto the XRP Ledger.
U.Today also points to this week’s approval from the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for Ripple National Trust Bank, and says Ripple recorded a threefold increase in multi-product integrations with large institutions including BNY, HSBC, DBS and Standard Chartered. BNY is described as launching a trade finance tokenization project built on XRPL. With the SEC case (2020 to 2025) behind it, Garlinghouse credited the GENIUS Act and clearer SEC and CFTC rules with giving institutions a framework to work with.
Earlier at the same event, Ripple presented its treasury and RLUSD cash management plans, which we covered in our Ripple Treasury and RLUSD report.
What it means for traders
The comments address a specific worry: that RLUSD growth could come at the expense of XRP demand. Management statements are not a guarantee of on-chain usage, so the numbers to watch are XRP Ledger settlement volumes and whether institutional integrations actually route through XRP rather than only through RLUSD. The report also notes that October has been a sluggish month for the market.
