20 Oct 2026
More than 6.05 billion XRP flowed to exchanges tracked by CryptoQuant in the 30 days to 19 October, the most since March. At the same time the 90-day average of whale withdrawals fell to $49.7 million, its lowest since October 2021, suggesting large buyers are waiting.
XRP is flowing onto exchanges at the fastest pace in seven months, while the biggest buyers are nowhere to be seen. New data from onchain analytics firm CryptoQuant shows a split that traders should watch closely.
Inflows at a seven-month high
On a rolling 30-day basis, XRP exchange inflows reached 6.05 billion tokens in the period to 19 October, the highest level since March. Inflows have doubled since mid-August. Over that time XRP/USD climbed from around $1 to a high of $1.70 before correcting to about $1.30.
CryptoQuant said the rise “signals a clear shift in asset movement toward exchanges,” which could reflect more trading activity and liquidity or simply more movement of XRP between wallets and exchanges. Large deposits to exchanges are often read as potential sell pressure, though they do not always lead to selling.
Whales have gone quiet
The other side of the picture is weak demand from large holders. The 90-day moving average of whale outflows from exchanges, a rough gauge of big buyers taking coins into custody, peaked at $3.5 billion in February 2025, shortly after XRP’s all-time high of $3.40. It has since dropped 98.6% to $49.7 million, the lowest since October 2021.
CryptoQuant said XRP is “attracting less and less attention” and that “from a long-term perspective, this suggests XRP could lack buying volume without whale support.” It also acknowledged the token’s “notable resilience” during the 2026 bear market.
Bitcoin investors cool off too
Bitcoin holders have also stepped back in October as BTC traded between $80,000 and $87,000. Glassnode’s Monday Market Pulse reported that the realized profit/loss ratio fell from 0.8 to 0.4 over the past week, a 50% drop, which it said points to more subdued sentiment.
What it means for traders
- Watch the order books: high exchange balances can mean more liquidity but also more supply ready to sell into rallies.
- No whale bid: without large buyers, rallies may fade faster. Tighter risk management makes sense for leveraged XRP positions.
- Where to trade XRP: spreads and fees vary widely. Compare XRP markets in our exchange comparison or check the live crypto prices page.
What to watch next
Watch whether inflows start turning into net selling, any recovery in whale withdrawals and whether XRP holds the $1.30 area.
