XRP Ledger bug fix amendment delayed to 4 November after brief validator dip

A brief network hiccup has pushed back an XRP Ledger upgrade by about two weeks. The fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment package will now take effect on 4 November at 14:46 UTC, after its approval countdown was reset.

Why it was delayed

XRP Ledger amendments need support from at least 29 of the 35 trusted validators continuously for 14 days, with checks every 15 minutes. The package was nearing activation when several validators briefly lost connection during a routine check, and support dropped to 26. The nodes recovered quickly, and support is back at 31 of 35, but the break reset the two week timer, according to U.Today. The rule is designed so the network waits rather than activating code during unstable conditions.

What the amendment fixes

The update is not related to any hack. It closes theoretical weaknesses in newer features. One fix stops an account with a token burning function from issuing new assets under rare conditions. Others improve rounding precision for deposits into the upcoming Single Asset Vaults, change loan default logic so delinquency is recorded strictly after the deadline, and fix bugs in the automated market maker, including erroneous burning of LP tokens, as well as NFT and escrow issues.

Market context

For XRP holders, balances, speed and fees are unchanged. XRP traded around $1.35 in U.Today’s report, and XRP ETFs have drawn about $1.8 billion in cumulative inflows since launch. Native lending and vault features are central to Ripple’s push to bring institutional DeFi onto the ledger, so a clean rollout matters.
